2018 Randall Smith Memorial Scholarship Recipients

The Randall Smith Scholarship award was established to commemorate the spirit of OCPAA founder (and former Santa Ana College Student Body President) Randall G. Smith and his love of politics and dedication to governmental relations, as well as his reputation of fairness, trust, and high ethics.  The $1,000 Scholarship is annually awarded to three different Santa Ana College students majoring in Political Science, Public Affairs, Communications, or Journalism, who demonstrate academic excellence.  This year’s 2018 recipients included:

2018 Randall Smith Scholarship Recipients

·      Gillian Torres

o   Graduating this year from Santa Ana College and will be entering UCLA this fall where she plans on majoring in Political Science (She also got into Cal, but said she likes UCLA better)

o   Santa Ana College’s 2018 Valedictorian, who will be giving the College’s upcoming graduation commencement address

o   Presently interning in OC District Attorney office and has a summer job lined up in the OC Public Defender’s office

o   Wants to attend law school

o   Irvine resident

 ·      Julio Vazquez

o   Graduating this year from Santa Ana College and will be entering California State University, Fullerton this fall where he plants to major in Communications

o   Plays soccer, but unclear yet whether he will try out for team at Cal State Fullerton

o   Has a strong interest in Communications & Health Care and wants to eventually attend graduate school at UCI

o   Plans to visit New York City this summer

o   Santa Ana resident

·      Kimberly Rodas

o   Graduating this year from Santa Ana College and will be entering Azusa Pacific University this fall where she plans to major in Public Relations

o   Her mother, the first college graduate in her family, also attended Azusa Pacific University

o   Works for both the City of Orange and Disneyland while attending school

o   Orange resident
